Lenten reflections inspire stars to ‘go back to basics’

Holy Week is the only time of the year when the show business circus comes to a halt. It gives celebrities, who are caught up in the frenzy of the biz, a chance to do a reality check. Fame has a way of distorting perception, that’s why many stars believe in their own hype.

I cornered some celebs for their Holy Week reflections. As a Holy Monday thought, are we lost in the shuffle—or shuffling with the lost?

I will reflect on the direction of my life. Am I on the right path? Am I making use of the Lord’s gift to me for His greater glory? In the world I move around, things tend to get complicated to the point that I find myself lost and tangled in the ways of the world. I will use this time to simplify everything, go back to basics and strengthen my relationship with the Lord.

I’ll reflect on and atone for the wrong things I’ve done in the previous year. I’ll think about how I can utilize the things I’ve been blessed with to help others.

After many years, I’m spending Holy Week with both my mom and dad. Ma and I will visit dad in Thailand. So, this year, I’d like to reflect and be thankful for these moments spent with family, which are rare and priceless.

I will be reflecting on all the blessings our Lord has given us. Receiving those blessings is a chance for us to pass them on and be a blessing to others as well. So, I will be thinking of new ways to do this and to continue God’s work.

Tolerance. Patience. Kindness. To be tolerant toward others, because my ways may not always be the best, and that others have problems in their lives that we aren’t aware of. To be patient when things don’t happen right away or when they don’t always turn out the way we want them to.

God’s time is the best time. It is easy to be kind to those who are good to us. But it is Christlike to be kind, even to those who aren’t nice to us, and especially to people who are in need of our helping hand.

For me, Holy Week is a time for our family to be together, to enjoy one another’s company. It’s a reminder to be thankful to God for giving us salvation.
