New ‘Full Metal Panic!’ anime possibly a no-go this year
Fans of “Full Metal Panic!” will have to wait a little longer for a new show from the franchise. The official website for the upcoming sequel series recently removed its listing for a fall premiere.
Anime News Network reports that the announcement for a sequel for the franchise titled “Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory” was released last year, with its full title being confirmed in January.
So far, there has been no further announcement regarding the status of the sequel. The most that fans can do is wait for official word on either the website or on social media channels.
“Full Metal Panic!” began as a light novel series which debuted in 1998. Its 12th and final volume was released in 2010. In total, the light novel series sold over 11 million copies in print.
This franchise then spawned the 24-episode “Full Metal Panic!” TV anime series in 2002 and its 12-episode spinoff “Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu” in 2003. Another TV series was produced lated in 2005 called “Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid” and ran for 13 episodes. Alfred Bayle/JB
