NEW YORK—My daughter Nicole and I have been here for a few days, both of us fighting jet lag. Our body clocks were completely turned around, but thankfully, things are getting better.
By the time you see this article, we should be feeling much better and more normalized.
Since my brain is still in a dazed and confused state, allow me to share whatever random thoughts pop in.
To be honest, when news of the US travel ban broke, my stress levels went through the roof. I mean, I have a full springtime calendar of concerts all over the country to make!
So, to make an uneventful entry into the United States made me heave a huge sigh of relief.
Sure, there were a couple of long lines, but I’d rather have that than be detained. Because we’re in New York for quite a bit, there’s a lot of musical theater shows to watch.
As of today, there’s the revival of “Miss Saigon” and the limited run of “Sunday in the Park with George,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford. There are quite a few friends in both shows, so I’m looking forward to reunions, laughter and hugs that will surely go around.
Today, we head to the West Coast for more concerts, and more reunions with childhood friends and family. This tour is going to be fun!
By the time all is said and done, we’ll hit Provo, Brooks, Malibu, San Francisco, Phoenix and Winnipeg, before returning to New York for Feinstein’s/54 Below for a record-breaking residency.
Speaking of the Feinstein’s/54 Below residency, I’ve just released a new CD titled “blurred lines,” a live recording of my previous stint at this same venue.
Right now, you can get it only on my website, LeaSalonga.com, and on every single tour stop I’m making. It’ll hit wider distribution on May 5.
On Aga, ‘TVT’ So excited that another Aga Muhlach film, “Sa Aking Mga Kamay,” has been restored by ABS-CBN. Kudos to everyone on the restoration team for continuing the effort to bring screen classics back to their former glory for younger generations to watch and appreciate.
We have finished Blind Auditions for “The Voice Teens (TVT).” The four days spent in the studio were grueling and exhausting, taking its toll on all of us.
However, the effort is worth it because of the staggering number of hopefuls who got up on that stage to audition for us.
The genres of music represented are varied and wide, which makes this season very exciting. Episodes of “TVT” will start airing on Easter Sunday!
