In front of thousands of exhilarated Filipino fans, Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin sang a short ode about the warm reception Filipinos showered on him and his band.
During yesterday’s “A Head Full of Dreams” concert at SM Mall of Asia’s concert grounds, Martin thanked the concertgoers with an impromptu song he wrote specifically for the Philippines.
“I’m so happy that we are here today / Even though thousands of you are so far away,” Martin sang. “I feel like you can’t see jack / It’s two miles from the front to the back.”
He chanted, “Oh we’ve been touring A Head Full of Dreams / Now we’ve made it to the Philippines / I tell you that the crowd’s such a thriller / They’re all killer, no filler.”
Then, Martin began praising the crowd for their warm support. “I tell you that the crowd is a thrilla / Just listen to how they sound in Manila / Oh we’re touring A Head Full of Dreams/ Now we’ve made it to the Philippines / Just listen to the way the crowd screams,” he ended.
Around 35,000 tickets were sold for the much-awaited Manila gig of the British rock band, the third stop of their Asian tour.
Coldplay, which popularized the hits “Paradise,” “Hymn for the Weekend” and “The Scientist,” will hold concerts in the cities of Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok and Tokyo in the upcoming days. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
