Known for her songs about confidence and body acceptance, Pink retaliates back at people who shame women for their weight and plump figures.
The pop star posted an Instagram gym selfie on Sunday and dedicated a message to women who are struggling to conform to fitness standards because of body-shaming.
“Would you believe I’m 160 pounds and 5’3″? By ‘regular standards, that makes me obese,” she captioned her selfie. “I know I’m not at my goal or anywhere near it after baby [number two] but dammit I don’t feel obese. The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies!”
Fans took to Instagram to thank Pink for her positive message. “You are the true inspiration for new moms…keep it real, always,” one user lauded.
Pink, 37, is training with Jeanette Jenkins, the same fitness trainer who helped her lose 50 pounds of post-pregnancy weight following the birth of her five-year-old daughter Willow Sage Hart in 2011. After giving birth to second child Jameson Moon last December, Pink wants to get back into shape and make a comeback to the recording studio.
“Day [one, let’s] do this Jeanette Jenkins,” Pink captioned another gym selfie on the photo-sharing app last February. “Week [six] post baby and I haven’t lost any weight yet…Yay me, I’m normal.” Her goal is to shed off 30 more pounds to attain her dream weight. “[Five] down 30 [pounds] to go,” she captioned another gym selfie.
Last month, Pink dropped the song “Just Like Fire” and collaborated with singer-songwriter Sia for the track “Waterfall”. Popular for her signature neon-colored hair and rock chic look in the early 2000s, Pink popularized songs such as “Trouble”, “Just Give Me A Reason”, and “Get The Party Started”.
Pink is married to motocross racer Carey Hart, who also appeared in some of her music videos. JB
