The four original stars who formed the Sang’gres (fairy goddesses) of “Encantadia” reunited in one nostalgic picture.
On Saturday, Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri-Smith posed for the camera during the birthday party of “Encantadia” director Mark Reyes. Karylle, Dizon, and Zubiri posted photos of their memorable meet-up on Instagram.
“Side by side or miles apart will always be connected by heart. Love you, girls,” Dizon, who played the role of Pirena in the 2005 series and Adhara in the current series, captioned her post. Meanwhile, Zubiri, who played Danaya in the 2005 series and Lilasari in the 2016 series, said, “Sanggre’s for life. Love you girls.”
Also present at the birthday bash was Alfred Vargas, who played Aquil in the original and Amarro in the ongoing one. He posed with Arthur Solinap, who played Muros in the original series, and with the original Sang’gres.
“I served these four gorgeous Sang’gres before as their general (Mashna) Aquil in Enca[ntadia] 2005. It’s so great to see you guys again,” Vargas said.
Cheska Iñigo, who played Galatea in the 2005 version and Maika in the 2016 version; Ruru Madrid, who plays Ybarro/Ybrahim in the remake; and Gabbi Garcia, who breathes life to Alena in the current series, showed up and met with some of the original cast members of the show.
Despite several “Encantadia” gatherings in the past few years, this is the first time the four original keepers of the elements were photographed together.
Last January, Dizon, Karylle, and Calzado reunited to watch Calzado’s horror thriller “Ilawod”, but Zubiri was unable to join them.
In the 2016 version, Garcia joins actresses Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, and Sanya Lopez as the four Sang’gres who would sacrifice everything for their kingdom’s sovereignty. JB
