Having directed both 2012’s “The Avengers” and 2015’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” for Marvel, Joss Whedon is now being linked with Warner Bros’ DC Extended Universe movie “Batgirl”.
There’s no date mentioned in Variety’s report, but Joss Whedon, the much-loved creator of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, has signed on to produce, write and direct “Batgirl” for Warner Bros.
Given the significance of his contributions to Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe—he created TV companion “Agents of SHIELD” now in its fourth season—there’s the possibility that he would be able to bring a similar perspective to Warner’s catalog of DC movies.
However, that is not touched upon in the report, and “Batgirl” is in its very early days: it “originated in the past month” and further expands Warner’s stable of female-led superhero movies beyond June 2017’s “Wonder Woman” and “Gotham City Sirens”, which is expected to go into production around the same time.
