/ 12:20 AM March 31, 2017

The American production of the musical comedy “Sister Act” is set to make a two-week stop in Manila as part of its ongoing Asian tour.

The show will run from June 27 to July 9 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City (call 891-9999).

Written by Glenn Slater with original music by Alan Menken, “Sister Act” is a two-and-a-half hour stage adaptation of the popular 1992 film of the same title that starred Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg.

The story follows Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a crime, and gets subsequently put in protective custody at a convent where she has to pretend to be a nun.

Mounted locally by Ovation Productions, “Sister Act” has been staged worldwide, and earned four nominations in the 2010 Olivier Awards and five in the 2011 Tony Awards. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
