“It’s one of my dreams to have a mother-daughter song,” said Vina Morales.

That dream came true via her latest studio album “Vina XXX,” under Star Music—her first in seven years.

One of the seven songs featured in the album is “Pag-Ibig na Walang Hangganan,” a duet with her 7-year-old daughter Ceana. “Since Ceana does like singing, too, I was able to convince her to do it with me,” said Vina, who’s planning to make the rounds of malls, bars and radio stations to promote the album.

Some tracks, like the Tagalog-Spanish “Eres Mio,” have a palpable Latin music influence. “I have been wanting to record this type of music for the longest time. I love this sultry and passionate quality Latin songs have,” she said at her recent album launch.

For the singer-actress, “Vina XXX” is a nod to her three decades in the entertainment industry—a feat she’s most proud of. “Show biz is tough. Some people don’t last very long; Some get to stay for a very long time. I’m so lucky to be one of the latter.”

Asked what she thought was the secret to her longevity, she cited two things: professionalism and love for the craft. “It’s about talent and attitude. I take care of myself and I make sure that I prepare for whatever it is I’m supposed to do—my best. And since my music now is Latin-inspired, I keep myself fit, too.”

Aside from recording new music, Vina also expressed interest in doing films again. “This year, given the chance, I would like to do an indie movie,” she said. “I want to do something new, something I have never done before.”

If there’s one thing Vina has learned from her 30 years in the industry, it’s that intrigues are part of being a public figure, and that at one point or another, people will “concoct stories about you to gain attention.”

The most recent rumor to hound the singer-actress alleged that she showed questionable behavior late last year at a bar, where she purportedly initiated a verbal confrontation with a woman.

She refused to name the woman, because she felt she was “being used.”

“I have been in the biz for a long time, but have you ever heard anything about me starting a ruckus, or threatening to slap someone? That I’m a bad person? Never!” she declared.

When confronted with such nasty issues, the best response oftentimes is not responding at all, according to Vina.

“Silence is the best revenge. I have been through a lot, but I prefer to keep quiet,” she related, adding that actions speak louder than words.

The 41-year-old celebrity draws strength from “God, family and friends.”

“Being a strong woman is being able to hold your head up, because you know you’re telling the truth and not stepping on anyone’s [toes],” she said.
