For Nadine Lustre, bagging the Favorite Pinoy Star trophy at the recent Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award was “#childhoodgoals achieved!”
“This means a lot [to me]. I grew up [watching] Nickelodeon [programs], and seeing that orange trophy being given to amazing artists. I am humbled to get one for myself, even though I feel I am not worthy of this great honor,” she told the Inquirer in an e-mail.
The 23-year-old star, who bested Liza Soberano, Janine Gutierrez and Janella Salvador for the title, said the award would serve as a motivation for her to work even harder.
“I want to thank Nickelodeon for its efforts in recognizing Pinoy talent,” she said.
The results were determined by a monthlong online voting among fans 14 years old and below. “I want to thank my supporters who voted for me,” added the actress who, together with her boyfriend James Reid, make up the the popular JaDine love team.
Last year, the category—then called Favorite Pinoy Personality—was won by Maine Mendoza.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
