On March 22, one young lady is going to be very, very happy.
Globe and Disney have teamed up for a project titled “Disney Princess: I Dare to Dream.” Six bright, talented and beautiful young women have been chosen to be our finalists: Hya Leonado (aspiring Broadway performer), Sirach Catipay (dreams of opening her own restaurant someday), Alexi Tan (developing animator and illustrator), Jaden Narvios (wants to be the President of the Philippines someday), Liana San Diego (in honor of her late father, wants to be a veterinarian) and Stephanie Jordan (wishes to be a TV host).
It is my good fortune to have been chosen to be their “fairy godmother” for this show. They’re all the real deal.
For a good number of weeks, the girls lived together in the same house, engaged in group challenges, and also spent some quality time on their individual pursuits, mentored by prominent professionals such as Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, who mentored Hya; Chef Jessie Sincioco, for Sirach; Efren Peñaflorida, for Jaden; Charisma Star, for Stephanie; and Dr. Nielsen Donato, for Liana. All of these activities are leading to the culminating concert on March 22, with yours truly and the show’s host and resident ate Janina Vela, along with Christian Bautista, Tippy Dos Santos, Julie Anne San Jose, Morrisette, Erik Santos, Aicelle Santos, KC Concepcion and Sam Concepcion.
At the end of the evening, one young lady will be chosen to head to Japan for the Tokyo premiere of Disney’s newest live action film, “Beauty and the Beast.” I, for one, am very excited to see this film, and how it’ll differ from the original animated movie.

More dreamers ahead
“The Voice” is ramping up once again, and this time, we’ve got teenagers. Make no mistake, this is going to be us venturing into the unknown.
We have done the regular season twice, and the kids’ season three times. We’re only too familiar with how this competition goes. However, now that we are introducing young men and women on the verge of adulthood with still a toehold on childhood, this should be very interesting, not to mention unpredictable.
However, I believe that this version of “The Voice” will have one fundamental thing in common with the previous ones: Everyone is hoping for that big break at stardom. Everyone is wanting singing success not only for themselves, but also for their families.
And we hope to help them on their way to making them come true. I’m also very happy that Sarah Geronimo will be back with us. We have definitely missed her.
