The streaming site’s fourth Marvel series, “Iron Fist”, starts Friday, March 17, introducing viewers to the last superhero set to join fellow Marvel characters in “The Defenders”, an upcoming Netflix miniseries expected later this year.

“Iron Fist” introduces Netflix subscribers to Danny Rand. Presumed dead following a plane crash over the Himalayas which killed his parents, the orphan returns to New York 15 years later to take back control of the family business.

After being taken in by monks, Danny spent 15 years being trained in various martial arts and learning to embrace the mystical power of the iron fist. These techniques help him take back control of his father’s group, now being managed by his childhood friends turned billionaires, Ward and Joy, and to stamp out corruption and crime.

The superhero, who first appeared in the Marvel universe in 1974, will be played by the 28-year-old British actor Finn Jones, well known to “Game of Thrones” fans as Loras Tyrell. He will be joined by another member of HBO’s cast, Jessica Henwick, a.k.a. Nymeria Sand, who’s set to play Colleen Wing, a martial arts expert who’s a great help to the superhero.

Rosario Dawson, previously seen in other Netflix Marvel series in the role of Claire Temple, and Jessica Straup (“Ted”, “Jack Reacher 2”) are also set to star in the show. JB
