Gabby Concepcion is ecstatic to be working with Maricel Soriano again after so many years. “I remember when we started in ‘Underage,’” he muses. “Dapat gumawa ng sequel and call it ‘Overage’ (laughs). A ‘Pepe and Pilar Part 2’ would be a good project, too.”
From Pepe and Pilar, let’s move to Piolo and KC. What’s Gab’s advice to his mini-me KC? “Show biz or not, relationships have its ups and downs,” he says. “Live and learn. Give 100 percent to the relationship. Time will come to move on. You either grow together or go your separate ways. Ultimately, the decision is KC’s. She and Piolo must have learned from each other when they get to that point.”
With Dad Gab and Papa Piolo behind her, what else can KC ask for?
Reunion movie
Lea Salonga is open to the possibility of doing a movie with Aga Muhlach again. “But the story should fit our age,” she says. “Graduate na kami sa cutesy roles. Even my husband Rob is all for it. He enjoyed my movies with Aga a long time ago. He keeps asking me when our next movie will push through. I’m most comfy with Aga because our friendship has remained solid all these years, plus I’m close also to his wife Charlene. I tease Aga when he’s paired to younger leading ladies. I can’t exactly picture myself working with younger leading men but if a good project comes along, I would prefer someone who has no love team because I dread the thought of fans pinpointing me as the kontrabida (laughs).”
How does she feel when Charice is compared to her? “I don’t mind at all. I’m flattered,” she says. “I hope Charice doesn’t mind the comparison, too.”
What does she consider her greatest achievement? “Over and above all the awards and accolades, it’s being able to keep my sense of humor amid the crazy world of show biz,” she quips.
Laughter here and there, love everywhere. Such is La Vida Lea!
Immortalized
I have been informed by Kuya Germs (German Moreno) that my late great Mom (Inday Badiday) will finally be given her own Star in Eastwood’s Walk of Fame on December 1. On behalf of the family, I would like to thank Kuya Germs and all those who remember my Mom fondly and treasure her legacy. Ma’s love will always be my guiding star.
Twister’s tweets
DJ Mo sent me this tweet after I wrote about him last week: “Thank you for the mention in your article. Yes, there is a desire to be loved and understood. The latter will happen soon.”
As for his plans to leave the biz (temporarily or for good), Mo says he is still weighing matters. His tweets lately reflect his introspective mood. He even posted a tweetpic of the tattoo on his neck which reads: “To The Wounds That Never Heal.”
May the twists and turns in Mo Twister’s life make him a happier man. A sweet guy (though that side of him is not exactly visible on TV) deserves nothing less.
Star material
Filipino-Swiss racer Marlon Stockinger, who landed on the Top 5 overall in the GP3 series held around the Catalan Circuit in Barcelona, Spain, is definitely star material. But he politely nixed offers to do movies.
The 20-year-old charmer would rather use his free time to recharge himself so that he’d be primed for the coming season. I won’t be surprised though if Marlon would soon be linked to some young actress. The racer’s got what it takes to make girls’ hearts race.
ERRATUM: In a previous column, I wrote that Phoemela Baranda is no longer with “The Buzz.” Although she doesn’t go live on Sunday, she still does the “Buzzbreak” and voiceover for the show.
