We at the Cinema Evaluation Board gave Regal Films’ horror film, “Pwera Usog,” a grade of A. Its trailer has already earned five million views online.
The movie will definitely click with the millennial crowd, whose love affair with modern technology makes them forget about Pinoy superstitious beliefs. It’s topbilled by today’s hottest young stars, Sofia Andres, Devon Seron, Cherise Castro, Joseph Marco, Kiko Estrada and Albie Casiño.
Brace yourself, thrill-seekers. Beware of being slaves to technology. It could take you somewhere you don’t want to go.
Here’s my chat with Albie:
What makes “Pwera Usog” different from other horror films? Even if it’s horror, there’s still an element of fun in it. Millennial barkadas can totally relate to it. It’s not just creepy for the sake of being creepy, it reminds the youth to respect the superstitious beliefs of their elders.
What was the hardest scene for you? When I had to put my head inside the toilet bowl.
What do you find hard to understand about girls? Everything.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve done for love? I used to plan elaborate surprises.
Kiana V
Kiana Valenciano is following in the footsteps of her dad, Gary V, but she struts her stuff in her own unique way. Kiana’s song, “Does She Know,” is No. 1 on Wave 89.1, and it also topped the 50 indie viral songs list. I can almost hear Gary singing “Hataw Na” as he cheers Kiana on, while she crosses the road to success.
Here’s my chat with Kiana:
What’s the toughest part of being Gary’s daughter? People expect me to be like him or surpass his career, but they tend to forget that I am my own person.
What’s the best part of being Gary V’s daughter? I would have to say the best part is being able to work and learn from him. I’ve learned to always strive for excellence in my music.
In what ways are you different from your dad, and in what ways are you alike? We’re both perfectionists along with everyone else in the family. I guess what makes us different is the type of music we produce.
Which of his songs would you want to do your own versions of? “What More Can I Say.” I’ve always loved that song!
Tell us about your song, “Circles.” My dad presented me with a beautiful arrangement one afternoon, and I was hit with a calm melody that fits perfectly with it.
I wrote “Circles” during a very rough patch in my life, and I pretty much let go of everything I was feeling and going through at the time.
What don’t people know about Gary V? He’s a comic. Such a funny man behind the scenes.
