‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ stars thank fans in show’s 20th year

The nostalgic crew behind “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” never forgot the integral role of their fans in the show’s small-screen victory across the United States and the globe.

Some of the celebrities who appeared in the hit supernatural series, which aired from 1997 to 2003, posted their simple “Thank You” to their fans on social media, with the hashtag #buffyslays20.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who led the cast as the fun and bubbly Buffy Summer, posted a throwback photo featuring one of the show’s iconic scenes. “Let’s party like it’s my birthday,” she tweeted on Saturday.

Josh Whedon, who created the show, also posted a heartwarming tribute to the show’s loyal fans.

Nicholas Brandon, who played the teen heartthrob Xander Harris in the series, reminisced how his life has changed since being part of the horror-drama flick.

Charisma Carpenter, who played Buffy’s adversary Cordelia Chase, tweeted, “I feel like I have fallen into an Internet sinkhole of all things Buffy. I can’t believe the reaction to 20 years of Buffy.”

Allyson Hannigan, who served as Buffy’s best friend and sidekick Rosenberg at Sunnydale High, felt speechless with the fans’ love for her character.

Buffy’s “Watcher” Rupert Giles, played by Anthony Stewart Head, tweeted his gratitude, “Here’s to all who watched, and all who were part of its creation, but most of all, here’s to you, Joss.”

Juliet Landau played Drusilla, a vampire who killed a slayer during season two.

Remember Amber Benson’s character Tara Maclay, who shared a passionate kiss with her girlfriend Willow?

James Marsters played the role of Spike, Buffy’s vampire foe who became her flame in the next episodes. He also appeared in the show’s 1999 spin-off, “Angel.” “Dear Buffy, Happy Anniversary! Sorry pet, didn’t get you flowers. Been busy talking to all the people who are celebrating you and Mr pointy,” he tweeted.

Buffy’s gang would never be complete without Anya, enacted by Emma Caufield. After losing her demonic powers, Anya joins the circle and eventually falls in love with Xander. “A huge ‘Thank You’ gift that changed my life forever. Love to all the cast, the writers, the crew, and the show’s captain Joss,” she tweeted.

Adam Busch’s Warren Mears, the evil nerd who led a gang in order to slay Buffy and conquer Sunnydale, penned a tribute to the show’s cast.

Clare Kramer played Glory, who relentlessly searched for the “key” she needed to return to Hell and almost killed Buffy in the process. “It’s Buffy’s 20th? So soon? Thank you Joss, and thank you to all the wonderful fans who help keep the show alive,” she tweeted.

Julie Benz (Darla), Eliza Dushku (Faith) and Tom Lenk, who got the role of Andrew Wells, thanked the show’s fans too. /ra
