MTRCB chief on PH movies
Rachel Arenas, new chair of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), remains optimistic about the prospects of the Philippine movie industry.
“I am encouraging our directors to make more films,” said Arenas, who’s also a member of the executive committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival.
She added: “I want to see more films that deal with human stories. We have so many talented filmmakers—acclaimed here and abroad. There are still a lot of inspiring tales that can be made into feature films, documentaries or short films.”
Arenas also looks forward to working with another execom member, Liza Diño (chair of the Film Development Council of the Philippines).
She said: “We are involved in the same industry. It will be good to work together. We can collaborate and help each other.”—BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
