Broken friendships, epic one-liners and self-driving cars.
All these were present in the explosive new trailer of the “Fate of the Furious,” set to be released on April 14.
The eighth installment of the mega-successful action franchise features the series’ lead, Dominic Toretto (played by Vin Diesel), turning his back from his crew and joining forces with the menacing cyber-criminal Cipher (Charlize Theron).
The three-minute trailer offers a glimpse of the film’s plot, with Cipher hacking her way into the multiple cars and creating havoc across New York City.
With Toretto on the other side of the mayhem, Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs takes over as the squad’s new alpha and leads the franchise regulars, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) toward their mission to reclaim their wayward friend.
The clip even confirms that Furious 7’s resident antagonist Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) will join in the squad.
The “Fate of the Furious” races to cinemas next month, with “Straight Outta Compton” director Felix Gary Gray at the helm. Khristian Ibarrola /ra
