“Bromance” is in the air for two boy bands that frequently sparred in the past in trying to magnetize the hearts of ladies.

During Wednesday’s “Larger than Life” gig at Las Vegas, the Backstreet Boys plucked one of the audience members onto the stage to sing with them. But the plot wriggled as the lucky fan turned out to be a familiar face in the ’90s–Joey Fatone of Backstreet Boys’ rival team, NSYNC.

While singing “Shape of My Heart” altogether, Fatone showed his love for the boy band by cradling AJ McLean and then planting a big smack on Nick Carter’s lips, which had the latter comically fainting. The song ended with Brian Littrell, Carter, Howie Dorough, and Kevin Richardson kneeling and handing red roses to a bashful Fatone.

Carter thanked Fatone on Instagram and gushed about their intimate moment on stage. “Joey Fatone’s kiss literally knocked me off my feet. Apparently, nothing’s off limits in Vegas,” he captioned his photo. On Facebook, the group thanked Fatone for his support: “You’re tearin’ up the shape of our hearts tonight Joey Fatone.”

According to US Weekly, Carter and Fatone, 40, were embroiled in a bittersweet dispute back in 2014 when Fatone dished out at Backstreet Boys’ existence over two decades.

“I feel like they (Backstreet Boys) just need the money – no offense, guys,” Fatone told Huffington Post back then. In a courteous response, Carter tweeted, “Just disappointed, I really liked Joey…I’m proud of who we are and love what we stand for. Truthfully it’s about not letting our fans down. Sorry bro, but you have us all wrong.”  Gianna Francesca Catolico
