Action star Robin Padilla has finally given his overdue blessing to his eldest daughter, Queenie, and her Pakistani husband.
For the first time after their four-year marriage, Queenie and her hubby, Usama Rashid Mir, visited Robin’s family including current wife, Mariel Rodriguez, in the Philippines last week.
Padilla shared heartwarming Instagram clips of their “pamamanhikan,” a traditional Filipino custom of asking permission to wed from the woman’s parents. “If there is one blessing that makes me cry easily and prostrate to the Almighty God with deep gratitude and worship, it is my daughter Queenie’s decision to live the life of a Muslim,” he captioned one of his clips. He repeatedly quoted the sentence “Nauna man ang kasal mauuwi pa rin sa pamamanhikan (Marriage may have come first, but it will still end with pamamanhikan)” in his posts.
The couple also visited the picturesque tourist spots of Tagaytay and Bagac, Bataan.
In another clip, Mir delightfully describes how his wife makes him smile all the time. “I’m very happy to have her in my life. I’m also getting kind of emotional. You said she’s happy, I’m also [happy] right now to have her in my life and I will try my best to make her happy till I die,” he said.
Queenie, 24, Padilla’s daughter with former actress Liezl Sicangco, tied the knot with Mir back in 2012. A year before, she quit the show-biz industry due to her religion, and is now managing her Muslim clothing line in Dubai.
Kylie, another daughter of Padilla and Queenie’s sister, is pregnant and engaged to actor Aljur Abrenica. Padilla is also a father to Maria Isabella, born last November in the US. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
