The big screen tandem of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia has proven again its prowess, this time on the small screen via the longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK).
In the February 18 episode of MMK, the two young stars were highly praised for their heart-piercing portrayal of two college sweethearts who proved that love is greater than death.
Playing the role of John (Joshua Garcia) and Aika (Julia Barretto), the young lovers were tested when the latter was diagnosed with leukemia.
Garcia and Barretto, who also starred in the blockbuster Manila Film Festival entry “Vince & Kath & James”, were widely praised in social media for their MMK performances.
With the success of their MMK appearance, the on-screen team up of Garcia and Barretto surely gave their fans a good glimpse of what they could expect in their next movies. The two are set for another big screen team up, though details have not been officially announced yet.
The episode also starred Allen Dizon, Nikki Gonzales, Devon Seron, Pamu Pamurada, Anjo Damiles, Kyra Custodia, Mikee Agustin, Lilet Esteban and Raine Salamante.
It was written by Benson Logronio and Arah, and directed by Dado Lumibao. JB
