Kapamilya TV host-actress Amy Perez and husband Carlo Castillo had house help Rose Besano arrested over theft charges.

According to an ABS-CBN report, the theft was first noticed when Besano asked for permission to take a vacation, on the promise to come back immediately, as she direly needs the job. It is when the house help was away that the couple discovered she wasn’t giving their association dues to their village, which was already over a year’s worth.

The couple also lost expensive watches, reportedly amounting to around P260,000.

The Quezon City Police quickly made the arrest at an entrapment operation. Seized in her possession were three watches, but the cash was never recovered.

It was only when Besano was already in custody that the TV host-actress discovered Besano also had pending debts from their neighbors. Besano also confessed that through the course of her four-year service to the family, she was able to amass money, groceries, sets of jewelry, toys and clothes, among others.

Besano was immediately charged with qualified theft.

In her daily morning show, “Umagang Kay Ganda”, Perez spoke about her sentiments over the incident:

Hindi ko ugali na magbukas ng social media ng ibang tao dahil personal na nila yun, pero nang sinilip ko, nagulat ako sa pictures niya doon, meron nasa kama namin, suot niya mga damit at salamin ko. Nakakagulat.

(It is not my nature to open the social media accounts of other people because I feel it’s their personal thing, but when I saw hers, I was shocked to see pictures of her on our bed, wearing my clothes and glasses. It’s really shocking.”)

More than the material things lost, she is mostly hurt from the betrayal, after giving her trust to Besano and considering her as a family member.

(“What hurts me most is that I and my children are affected, because we trusted her so much. We did not treat her differently. We celebrate her birthday every year. We include her in our trips with the kids. All of these hurt us.”) JB
