Young stars are using their celebrity status to support an all-out battle against hunger.

Artists Sam Concepcion, Chris Tiu, Matteo Guidicelli, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Tippy dos Santos, Miriam Quiambao, Miguel Escueta, Nikki Gil, Tanya Markova Band, Krissy and Ericka Villongco, The Lamars, Tricia Garcia and Salamin Band are helping promote World Vision’s Famine youth movement, which gathers young people from across the world to go without food for hours as a sign of their radical stand against hunger.

Says World Vision Ambassador Chris Tiu: “While I feel grateful to have food on my plate when I need it, it also feels terrible to know that there are children who are starving and unsure if they will even have food to eat on the next day. It’s every child’s right to eat well.”

The international child-focused organization, has put up Famine in countries like the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdon, Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia.

Last year, the Philippines held its first “12-hour Famine,” registering more than 2,500 youth from various schools and gathering over 1,000 participants who went without food for 12 hours. Over P1.2 million was raised that helped families in poor areas where hunger is widespread.

Yesterday, young stars joined the second “12-hour Famine” from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
