Hugh Jackman is under treatment for basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, for the fifth time.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the Australian actor snapped a selfie wearing a bandage on his nose.
“Another basal cell carcinoma. Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on than off. I swear,” he wrote, coupling it with the hashtag #wearsunscreen.
Entertainment sites People and US Weekly elaborated that this was the “Wolverine” actor’s fifth time to have his ailment treated. He was diagnosed back in 2013 when his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, urged him to have his nose wound checked by doctors.
“Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right! I had a basal cell carcinoma,” he posted at the time. “Please don’t be foolish like me. Get yourself checked [and] use sunscreen.”
According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, basal cell carcinoma stems from abnormal, uncontrolled growths or lesions that appear in the skin’s basal cells. Being the most frequent form of cancer, about 4 million people in the US suffer from basal cell carcinoma.
