/ 12:43 AM February 12, 2017

What is Valentine’s Day without the romantic love songs that make it lovelier and even more meaningful? For this forum, we asked celebrities what their favorite love songs are and why. But as this list proves, the Valentine season isn’t just for lovers—it’s also for remembering departed loved ones and for reminding everyone that loving should be observed every single day of the year.

Maine Mendoza: My go-to kilig song is “When You Say Nothing at All,” because it comes from my favorite movie “Notting Hill.” It makes me swoon every time I hear it.

Alden Richards: I feel the emotion of the song every time Bruno Mars sings “Too Good to Say Goodbye.” Damang dama mo s’ya.

Dingdong Dantes: “Kahit Maputi Na ang Buhok Ko”—that’s one of my, and [wife] Marian Rivera’s, favorite songs.

Regine Velasquez: “You’ll Never Know” is in my mind right now because I sang it the other day. It’s my father’s favorite song. It reminds me so much of him.

Solenn Heussaff: To be honest, I hate Valentine’s Day, because I’m neither romantic nor sentimental as a person. That doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate romantic gestures, though. But for me, Valentine is just a Hallmark invention. If you truly want to share and spread love, share it the whole year round, not just one day a year.

Joross Gamboa: I choose the love songs that my wife and I used at our wedding. There are three of them: “All of Me” by John Legend, “Yellow” by Coldplay, and our favorite videoke song “Tuwing Umuulan at Kapiling Ka” by Regine Velasquez.

Gabby Concepcion: I don’t have any specific song in mind, but I enjoy listening to love songs because they serve their purpose and always hit the heart.

Joyce Ching: The song “A Girl” is special because it was specifically written by Kristoffer Martin for me. It is about me—about what I am as a person and how he feels about me.

Kristoffer Martin: I wrote another song for Joyce (Ching) called “One Chance.” It is memorable for me because I used the song to court her.

Jak Roberto: I enjoy listening to “Say You Won’t Let Go,” because its singer James Arthur performs it like he’s just telling a story that music lovers can relate to. His singing makes the story come to life.

Mike Tan: I love “That’s All,” especially Rod Stewart’s version, because of its lyrics.

Ryza Cenon: For me, it’s “We and Us” by Moira. The song is about enduring love…parang hanggang dulo, tayong dalawa lang.

Ken Chan: Among the OPM classics, my top pick is Ric Segreto’s “Don’t Know What to Say (Don’t Know What to Do).” For the newer tunes, my favorite is Bruno Mars’ “Versace on the Floor.”

Bugoy Drilon: (Sings his answer, Elliott Yamin’s “Wait for You,” first) “Baby, I will wait for you/If you don’t know what else I can do.” I love the song because I can relate to it. I keep waiting for the right timing.

Sheena Halili: It depends on my mood. “Tadhana” makes me relax. If you’re feeling emotional, you can cry as you listen to it. It’s also a good nakaka-in-love song.

Gardo Versoza: To win a woman’s heart, the song to play or listen to is Martin Nievera’s “Be My Lady.”
