After “Heneral Luna,” here comes a short film spinoff that will serve as a bridge to the upcoming “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” the second installment of Jerrold Tarog’s historical trilogy.
The 20-minute short film “Angelito” will be released with romantic-comedy “I’m drunk, I love you” on February 15.
The short film will show Antonio Luna’s aides-de-camp Jose and Manuel Bernal story right after Luna’s assassination. Though fictional, it is “loosely inspired by real events” according to its director, Jerrold Tarog.
From “Heneral Luna,” Alex Medina and Art Acuña will be back to play Jose and Manuel Bernal respectively, reprising their roles. Arron Villaflor’s Joven Hernando will also make a comeback in the mini-sequel.
“We cannot thank the public enough for making ‘Heneral Luna’ one of the biggest films in Philippine cinema. This is just one of the many ways we can show how proud and thankful we are to everyone who embraced this film,” TBA (Tuko Film Productions, Buchi Boy Entertainment, Artikulo Uno Productions) chief executive E.A. Rocha said in a statement.
“Filipinos deserve to see good, quality movies! Come February 15, for a single ticket price, they’re going to see not just one, but two beautiful, memorable films—‘I’m Drunk, I Love You.’ and ‘Angelito,’” he added.
Maja Salvador and Paulo Avelino will star “I’m drunk, I love you,” directed by JP Habac and produced by TBA.
Avelino will return as Gregorio del Pilar in “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, which will begin its production this year.
