Queens in the house
To be more accurate, the Queens met at the Senate. After last Tuesday’s intense deliberations on the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), a moment of levity was shared between Superstar Nora Aunor and Mylyn “MJ” Jacobo (one of the Hong Kong-based domestic helpers featured in Baby Ruth Villarama’s documentary, “Sunday Beauty Queen”).
It was their second time to cross paths since the MMFF, but this time around, MJ made sure to have a snapshot taken with the award-winning star of “Kabisera,” who was seated near her in the session hall.
“It was an honor,” MJ said of meeting La Aunor, who graciously congratulated the docu’s entire team for winning best picture at the MMFF.
“I was so happy to meet her,” MJ told the Inquirer. “I approached her, and she shook my hand.”
MJ’s only regret was that she was not able to deliver the speech she had prepared in support of the MMFF because of the extended discussion on the slaughtered dog in “Oro.”
