With the imminent end of the “Twilight” saga—which began its wrap-up with the release of “Breaking Dawn, Part One” Friday (its finale unreels on Nov. 16 next year)—the swooning and shrieking fans of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are wondering what’s on the attractive trio’s thespic plates:
Pattinson’s chiseled, pretty-boy looks are perfect for period dramas and supernatural romances—but, he goes the contemporary route in David Cronenberg’s postmodern drama, “Cosmopolis,” where he plays Eric Packer, a newly married young millionaire who loses everything in the course of a single day!
His role in Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod’s “Bel Ami” is even edgier. The period piece chronicles the life of Georges Duroy (Pattinson) and his rise to power in Paris—which he accomplishes by manipulating the city’s most influential women, including Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Road trips
Kristen Stewart also has something exciting up her sleeve: She takes on Jack Kerouac’s autobiographical “On The Road,” based on the spontaneous road trips of Kerouac (who’s the poster child of the post-war Beat Generation) and his friends across mid-19th century America. The movie’s exciting cast also includes Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen, Tom Sturridge, Garrett Hedlund and Amy Adams.
We’re even more excited about the actress’ foray into fantasy: In “Snow White and the Huntsman,” Rupert Sanders puts a dark twist to the well-loved fairy tale, with Stewart portraying the beleaguered princess.
Upon the Evil Queen’s (Charlize Theron) order, the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth of “Thor”) takes Snow White into the woods, where he’s supposed to kill her. Instead, he becomes the princess’ protector and mentor in her quest to vanquish her scheming nemesis!
Then, Jacob Black’s alter ego just might go biblical in “Goliath,” Scott Derrickson’s intriguing screen adaptation on the life of the future king of Israel, David (Lautner), who’s on the run from Goliath. If plans push through, Lautner will have a lot of muscle-flexing to do, because the actor tapped to play his arch enemy is—Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!
