Designer Lisa Frank is set to animate her colorful creations in an upcoming film.
Frank and her company, Lisa Frank Inc., which sells a vibrant lineup of ’90s merchandise, will be the subject of a live-action and animation hybrid film, Variety reported.
Jon Shestack, who previously directed films such as “Ghost in the Girlfriends Past” and “Air Force One,” was tapped to direct the movie.
“I have always wanted to do a feature film that brings the world of Lisa Frank to life,” Frank told the news site. “We have so much backstory on our characters and they have been alive in my imagination since the beginning.”
Although no target release date was announced, Shestack promised Frank’s nostalgic fans would be thrilled to reunite with their favorite unicorns and rainbow-colored creatures on the big screen. “Lisa Frank’s world is cheerful, it’s optimistic, it’s hip, but it is without snark,” said Shestack. “It’s just sort of impossible to scowl when you’re smiling, and why would you want to? I’m so stoked to be part of this.”
