Ex-Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham is reportedly “spicing up” a legal battle to prevent the sought-after reunion of her former group.

The Sun reported that Beckham, known as “Posh Spice,” might subsequently use legal grounds to block Melanie Brown, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton from performing their blockbuster songs if and when they reunite for a comeback tour.

Beckham, 42, holds joint writing credits of several Spice Girls’ chart-toppers, including “2 Become 1,”  “Say You’ll Be There” and “Spice Up Your Life.”

“The girls are devastated. It is an extremely sad way for things to end,” a source told the news site. “Victoria was a huge part of their lives and now she is using lawyers to block their comeback.”

Beckham insists that she wants the remaining Spice trio to start “back to zero” and record their own hits. The insider divulged, “Victoria is proud of her Spice Girls history but this suggests she wants to cut all links with the group which transformed her life.

“She is resorting to aggressive legal letters and it is an extremely sad way for things to end after all they have been through together,” the insider added.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Beckham admitted that she supported the trio’s comeback, but requested them to create new music. “Of course, as a new group, I do [wish them luck],” she said. “I do think they should sing new material, though, because what we did as the Spice Girls was so special. If they sang Spice Girls songs, I think I might be a bit sad.”

Just last November, Melanie Brown, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton leaked their first single “Song for Her” under their spin-off name “GEM.” The other member, Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, previously bowed out from the proposed reunion after meeting with GEM.

“Look, I will be a Spice Girl until I die. But the continuous speculation on whether we will reform to celebrate 20 years of Wannabe has been particularly exhausting,” she penned on her Love Magazine essay.

“Truth be told, earlier this year after several face-to-face meetings with the girls I made the difficult decision not to be part of a proposed reunion with Emma, Geri, and Melanie. Victoria had already bowed out understandably with the demands of her fashion label and her rather large family,” she added.

Another report from The Sun claims that Horner, who is pregnant with her second child, may quit the reunion to focus on her family.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
