Richard Parojinog, more commonly known as “Mr. Pastillas” performed live on Inquirer ShowbizLive, singing his very first digitally-released pop-love ditty, “Puso”.

After his successful stint as “Mr. Pastillas” in “It’s Showtime”, Parojinog takes on another chapter in his life, now all set to pursue his first love, singing.

In his January 11 guesting on ShowbizLive, Inquirer’s very first entertainment talk show, fans were treated to an easy-listening pop-love song with just the right kick of hugot lines to keep listeners hooked.

The real deal with Ms. Pastillas

Prior to his venture into formal singing, he was known to be the other half of a love team that was born mid-2015, with Angelica Yap as “Pastillas Girl”.

Despite previous queries on the real score with Ms. Pastillas, Mr. Pastillas clarified once and for all that he and Yap were never officially together. He admitted, though, that they indeed dated each other, but only for a mere two months.

But even if they did not end up with each other, Parojinog says he and Yap remain good friends and are enjoying their separate lives.

“We had ‘Showtime Online’ with Ate Darla [Sauler] and I think it got cut due to reformatting. We also had our separate careers. We were also dating for how many months, but then we simply decided to just stay friends,” Parajinog said.

Mr. Pastillas also denounced rumors that his ‘dating’ course with Ms. Pastillas was not real.

Life after Mr. and Ms. Pastillas

After earning a degree in hotel and restaurant management, the next sensible thing to do is to find a job, and this millennial, before being Mr. Pastillas, was doing just that. He took the normal path of looking for a job just like everyone else. He was living the common life before his world was changed, after his stint at “It’s Showtime”.

“It’s way too okay and life-changing. I used to be a normal person but now that I’m known, people would approach to have their pictures taken with me. I’m not used to it,” he shares.

He says his showbiz journey started when there was a call out on Twitter for a search for Mr. Pastillas.

“It was in Twitter… I just tried it and did not expect that I’d get it. I just tweeted out of curiosity,” he recounted.

‘Competition’ with Aldub

It was about the same time that the phenomenal breakout love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, collectively known as “Aldub”, was born, giving rival noon time show “Eat Bulaga” skyrocketing ratings. Because of this, many deemed that the birth of Mr. and Ms. Pastillas was a ’desperate’ cry to at least come close to the soaring ratings of the three-decade old noon time show.

However, Mr. Pastillas came to “It’s Showtime” and his loveteam’s defense, clarifying that competition of any sort did not ever cross his mind.

“I did not feel a competition. During that time, we just went with the flow,” he said.

As all celebrities are, the newly-launched love team also experienced tremendous amounts of bashings. He also admits that he encountered “harsh” people even in person during the height of their rivalry with Aldub. He says he heard people saying “Yoko jan, Aldub ako (I don’t like them, I’m for Aldub),” but he remained calm, thinking it’s up to people to choose who to idolize and who not to.

Richard Parojinog’s digital single is available for download on Spotify, Itunes, Amazon and Deezer, simply key in “Puso” by Chard Parojinog. The digital single is produced by Ivory Music.

“ShowbizLIVE” can be viewed every Wednesday 8-9 PM on Radyo Inquirer, Inquirer 990 Television and on the Inquirer.net website. It can also be viewed via Facebook, Youtube and Periscope.
