Higher pay for ‘Shameless’ star
After seven seasons of playing the beleaguered older sister in the American version of the Showtime comedy-drama, “Shameless,” Emmy Rossum will be back for an eighth season with a higher salary.
Previously paid less than costar William H. Macy, Rossum has gotten an undisclosed salary increase recently, after negotiations with the show’s production company, Warner Bros.
Macy, who appears in fewer scenes per week, supported his costar’s demand prior to the settlement.
Rossum plays Fiona Gallagher, who single-handedly raised five younger siblings after giving up on their absentee and substance-abusing parents, conman Frank (Macy) and the unstable Monica (Chloe Webb).
Rossum directed an episode in the recently concluded seventh season. —OLIVER PULUMBARIT
