The joy of watching football is incomparable, especially when the team you’re rooting for reaches the finals against their greatest rival. Here in the Philippines, basketball is undeniably the sport everybody loves, but the Philippine Azkals have slowly risen to fame. Now, Phil and James Younghusband are household names while the team has gained a lot of followers.

But do you know how people played this game in the earlier days?

In today’s episode of “Hwarang”, you can witness the old style of playing football during the period of the Silla Kingdom in Korea. But did football really exist then?

The Silla Kingdom was founded in 57 BC by Park Hyeokgeose (who is known as a person born from an egg), and according to historical records, the very first game of football (Chuk guk) in Korea was played by Master Young Sil and the King, together in the palace. However, football was only for training purposes instead of being an actual game.
