At a recent Christmas party for members of the media covering the entertainment, business and lifestyle beats, GMA-7 chair and chief executive officer Felipe Gozon stressed that his network’s ratings provider, Nielsen, is more credible than its rival’s (ABS-CBN).
“We’ve been increasing our lead in ratings as days, weeks and months pass. But this is being disputed, so I would like to say a few words about that. Nielsen, our ratings provider, is No. 1 in the United States. As a lawyer, I will highlight the most important distinction between the two: Nielsen has 900 more people meters (a tool for measuring the viewing habits of free and cable TV audiences) than the provider of Channel 2, which is Kantar,” he said, adding that Nielsen has more subscribers, too.
“At siguro, alam n’yo naman na ang Channel 7 ay hindi lang walang pinoprotektahan at walang kinikilingan—wala ring kasinungalingan,” Gozon added. “So, when we say that we’re already in the lead, rest assured that that’s the truth.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
