Christmas Memories: Phoebe Walker’s white Christmas

What is your most memorable Christmas season? How do you intend to celebrate the holidays this year?

Two years ago, I traveled to London to visit my paternal grandmother for the holidays. By some stroke of luck, it snowed while we were there. My grandma told me that it hadn’t snowed in London for 10 years because of climate change.

But that year, we got to experience a white Christmas. We were so happy, my younger sister Molly and I went out of the house and played in the snow. I threw snowballs at my sister, and one hit her on the face. She cried buckets.

This year, I was supposed to visit relatives in Melbourne, Australia, with my mom and sister. But since I have an entry (“Seklusyon”) in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, I had to cancel the trip, even though I had already booked my ticket.

I am looking forward to the parade and the premiere and awards night, though. It’s my biggest movie so far. On Christmas Day, I will watch our film with my (British) dad, who’s flying in from Macau, where he is based. Most probably, after the movie, my dad would watch football the rest of the day at home. —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
