Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest names in the music industry today, but not many people know that he dreamed of becoming a basketball superstar as a youngster.
To display his savviness on the court, the 29-year-old “Poetic Justice” rapper challenged another prominent figure who also happens to be a big basketball fan, Barrack Obama, to a friendly game of 1-on-1.
“He gotta work on his jump shot a little bit, get his left hand all the way right,” he jokingly described the outgoing US President’s shooting form during an interview for Complex News.
Obama, who’s an avid baller and been known to participate in few pick-up games, will have a lot of time on his hands once his term ends this January.
Lamar hopes that the two of them can share the court, and even has a venue already mapped out.
“I’ve been trying to bring him out, that’s why I’m throwing shots at him right now,” he said. “I want him to come to Gonzalez Park, Enterprise Park in Compton.”
The diminutive rapper, who stands 5’4, revealed in 2003 that he was keen on pursuing a profession in basketball before his music career took off.
The POTUS (a code name for the President of the United States) has yet to respond to the rapper’s offer as of writing, but based on his love for the game, he’s not the type to back down to challenges. Khristian Ibarrola
