‘Gintama’ live action adaptation scheduled for summer 2017
The actors in costume for the upcoming “Gintama” live-action adaptation have been revealed, as well as the movie’s premiere date, which is set for the summer of 2017.
The photos were posted on the movie’s official Twitter account. These were essentially like movie posters and contain writing that mentioned the movie’s scheduled premiere date, reports Anime News Network.
The movie is based on the long-running manga “Gintama,” which has gained a huge following its serialization since 2003. The manga itself is considered weird and bizarre because of its mix of fourth-wall-breaking humor as well as science-fiction elements.
Gintama is set in an alternate late Edo period where the earth was invaded and conquered by aliens. The central character is an eccentric samurai named Gintoki Sakata, who makes a living taking odd jobs wherever he can find them. Along with companions Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura, they go about their business of completing various jobs and getting into all sorts of trouble.
The franchise has also received various anime adaptations with the latest being aired in 2015. A new series is scheduled to premiere on January 8, 2017. Alfred Bayle
