Reaching your true destiny is not sometimes what people around you want, or even hope, for you. In the case of Janella Salvador, however, before her name would enter the mainstream consciousness of people–firstly, in the country of her birth, the Philippines–it was written already in the stars that she will follow in the footsteps of her mother Jenine Desiderio. But more than that, Janella will one day–sooner than soon– become famous as a singer-actress. That is her destiny! But it will be on a much bigger scale and for a whole new generation this time.

After all, Janella Salvador is a second generation artist. It is in her genes to act and more importantly, to sing. But who knew that then but her family, of course, first and foremost, who naturally has her best interests at heart to help her attain the fullest of her potentials when given the platform to do so? Who better to give her that platform but the network she is with now which has taken good care of her because they recognize she possesses that magical, elusive, and intangible “IT”!

If I were in management’s shoes, I would make sure she is always well looked-after behind the scenes and “shielded” from the brewing jealousies other young artists have towards her as also given the best projects that would continue to nurture and develop Janella’s abilities as a singer-actress.

Many young Filipino singers-artists have come and gone in the past despite their having been tagged as a “promising and rising artist.” Many of them were really good and tried their very best but they just did not have “IT.”

However, in the case of Janella Salvador, she has not only lived up to the hype of her debut on television, the build-up of her very first album, and the positive praises she received for her acting in her movie roles… but she has achieved something so important and integral in an unbelievably quick period of three very short years. She has found her footing in an overcrowded industry!

Once you have found your footing, your niche in the world, and what works for you… then everything from that point on becomes clearer and the goals you have in mind and what are expected of you are now well within reach and not anymore a far-fetched dream.

Whether it is singing, dancing, acting… you name it… if you are multi-talented, this works for you in the long run and it makes you less expendable but more of a prized talent to keep for many years to come.

On another note, to truly find one’s own artistic identity is a self-realization that takes time and once you stumble upon it or gradually discover it, then you are in the “green zone”.

I believe Janella Salvador has already discovered on her own what her artistic identity is.

That means the chances of her failing or flopping is no longer in the realm of possibilities because at this stage of her young professional career people already know who she is and what she is all about and those people are her loyal fans who will support her every step of the way. These fans will grow old with her.

Janella Salvador has earned the admiration and support of her fans for the solid work ethics she has as reflected in her roles in television shows, appearances in movies, in her commercials and of course, the music she offers.

Which brings me to this. I think in the increasingly dangerous and ever unpredictable times we live in, we look to the entertainment industry to get our minds off all the depressing, frustrating and upsetting news we hear and see being reported on a daily basis. In my opinion, who does not want to see an artist-singer like Janella Salvador with that light in her eyes, her sweet innocence radiating from her? Such a refreshing joyful image she is, indeed, unseen in an endless sea of tainted, jaded young wannabes.
