A Filipina-American teenager has wowed the judges and audience of a popular Korean reality show.

Kriesha Tiu, known by her Korean stage name Chrisha Choo, is a trainee under Urban Works ENT, a Korean talent agency. She auditioned for “K-Pop Star 6: The Last Chance” and sang “I Don’t Love You” by Urban Zakapa. For her second performance, she danced to Justin Bieber’s hit “Boyfriend.”

The three judges, namely YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun-suk, JYP Entertainment’s Park Jin-young and Antenna Music’s You Hee-yeol, were so amazed that they said they were “jealous” of Choo’s talent scout. Moreover, they lauded her hard work in learning the language.

“I thought I wanted to bring her to my talent agency right away,” Yang said. Despite her smooth vocals, Park reminded Choo of proper breathing and posture when singing.

Born in Cebu, Choo, 17, was scouted by the agency while she was living in San Francisco, California. She moved to Korea with her mother and brother, and has brushed up on her Korean language skills since then.

“K-pop Star 6: The Last Chance,” the show’s final season, recently welcomed trainees signed under different agencies. The competition’s winner will be marketed by the three agencies the judges represent.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
