Anne Curtis: My music is not soulful, it’s painful

SARAH Geronimo

Michael Jackson fanatics like me are euphoric about the conviction of Conrad Murray. Although the verdict cannot bring MJ back to life, it somehow eases the pain of losing our idol.

Too bad Murray deprived MJ the chance to keep mesmerizing us with his incredible talent so we just have to content ourselves with watching his videos over and over again. (Please feel free to join the Facebook page I created, DA Loves MJ, so we can keep paying homage to the King of Pop.)

Michael still had so much to give. Sad that Murray took it all away.

Bad blood

As the plot thickens in the Ram Revilla murder case, blood is no longer thicker than water. The entire clan cannot talk about the case anymore due to a gag order. With all the twists

and turns, what else will be revealed about the Revillas?

‘All For 1’

I immensely enjoyed the concert of Martin Nievera and Side A, “All for 1,” last 11-11-11 at the Big Dome. It was also a celebration of Viva Films’ 30 glorious years in the biz.

Martin and Side A front man Joey Generoso were both in their element. They still have what it takes to pierce hearts, with their soulful renditions of timeless hits. Prior to the show, I texted Mart and Joey to wish them luck. Mart asked if Pops (Fernandez) was watching, too. Too bad Pops was not around to hear Martin sing the ballads he used to serenade her with. Spotted in the audience were Sam Pinto, Aiza Seguerra, Mark Bautista, the Del Rosario clan lead by Boss Vic, and Maricel Soriano.

ANNE Curtis

Special guests were Anne Curtis and Sarah Geronimo. Anne was quite a revelation that night. She belted out “Alone” with Joey G. Ms. Annebisyosa surprised not only the crowd but also herself with her birit moments. Before the show began, I tweeted that it would be a night of soulful music. Anne replied to my tweet: “My music is not soulful. It’s painful! Hahaha.”

Anne’s album has turned gold, which makes her ripe for a solo concert. She tested the waters last Friday and it was quite a breeze. Vincent del Rosario told me that if plans materialize, Viva would produce Anne’s first major concert at the Big Dome in January.

Sarah, Martin and Joey G did a medley of Viva’s movie themes. Although the issue between Sarah and Cristine Reyes is a thing of the past, it was rather obvious that Sarah opted not to sing the theme of Cristine’s movie “No Other Woman” (“Now That You’re Gone”) and just resumed singing when they moved on to the next tune.

Maricel was in high spirits. She seemed to have put the controversial allegations of her former helpers behind her. It’s good that Maria is visible again. Viva is cooking up an adult drama movie for her. The Diamond Star’s brilliance is set to enthrall us once more.

What a magical “11-11-11” night of music and memories. “11” beats a Perfect 10 especially with Viva, Martin and Side A to make it happen.

‘Single’ again

Direk GB Sampedro and Daiana Menezes have called it quits. GB had the tattoo of Daiana’s name erased from his arm. Their plan to spend Christmas in Brazil will no longer push through.

“I will try to convert my ticket for another destination,” says GB. “Daiana is free to use her ticket to fly home if she wants to.”

GB clarifies why he didn’t help out Daiana when her condo unit almost burned down (they live in the same building). “I called the guard and I was told that everything was under control. So I didn’t see the need to check on her. I have boundaries to respect.”

So GB is back in the singles scene. He was so chummy with Sitti at the opening of Sir Boy’s Republic. “I courted Sitti a long time ago,” he admits. “Kahit saan province ang show niya, pinupuntahan ko. But, too bad, binasted niya ako.”

Hopefully, next time he falls, GB will not say G(ood) B(ye) anymore.
