Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera-Dantes and Ai-Ai de las Alas blasted a netizen for criticizing Rivera for breastfeeding in public.
De las Alas had uploaded a short clip on her Instagram account taken during baby Zia’s birthday party on Sunday. In the video, Rivera, cloaked in a nursing scarf, is seen breastfeeding her child while entertaining guests.“Ang ulirang ina awardee, pure breastfeed si baby Zia. Mabuhay ka kambal, and happy birthday sa king inaanak na maganda kagaya ko (The ideal mother awardee. Baby Zia is purely breastfed. Long live, my twin, and happy birthday to my godchild who is beautiful like me), ” the comedian captioned her post.
Nonetheless, an Instagram user commented that breastfeeding should not be done in public. Although the comment has been taken down, a great number of users, as well as Rivera and De las Alas themselves, defended the photo.

“Walang masama sa pagpapadede sa anak in public lalo na kung may cover naman. Hindi ka pa siguro nanay o wala ka pang anak kaya hindi mo naintindihan (There’s nothing wrong with breastfeeding in public, especially if there is a [nursing] cover. You are probably not a mother or you don’t have a child that’s why you don’t understand), ” Rivera responded.
The debate about breastfeeding in public intensified when the Comedy Queen aired her sentiments on the issue by elucidating the use of a nursing scarf. She said, “Walang private room doon kasi birthday nya nung bata sa function room…alangan naman sa cr mo po dedehin si z (Zia)…kaya nga ginawa ang breastfeeding infinity scarf for baby para sa mga situations na ganito at FYI yan ang tawag sa scarf.”

Rivera and her husband, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes ironed out a lively first birthday party for their unica hija, which was attended by celebrities and key show-biz personalities. Rivera and Dantes celebrated baby Zia’s birthday in the same place where they had their first date eight years ago.
