Power belter Jonalyn Viray–more popularly known as Jona–will do her very first solo concert, eight months after her transfer to the Kapamilya network.

Jona said there’s so much to look forward to in her concert, which will held at the Kia Theater on Friday, Nov. 25. “Normally lagi niyo po ako naririnig ng mga birit songs. Para naman maiba ibaba ko naman po siya pero syempre nandun pa rin naman po kung ano po talaga yung inaabangan pa rin ng mga tao sa akin, but this time, since bigger venue na po yung aking pagpeperformahan, may mga production numbers po talaga kami na dapat abangan,” she said last week at the press conference on her upcoming concert entitled “Queen of the Night: Jona.”

Jona said there will also be “a little bit” of dancing during her concert, which is part of her desire to be a total performer.

She intends to take dance lessons to improve her dance moves, she added.

Jona is excited not only about the production numbers in her concert but also with the guest performers who will join her including Jed Madela, Daryl Ong and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

Jona has been through a lot of changes in the past months since her transfer to ABS-CBN, where she has been training under the strict supervision of Star Music executives. The power belter said she does not get offended when she’s criticized or “overhauled,” willingly submitting herself to her trainers for her own improvement as an artist and as a person.

With a little more than a decade in the music industry, Jona has established herself as one of the most powerful singers in Philippine music industry, but she does not want to overshadow her fellow belters, doing away with the “Queen” title that denotes she’s the queen of songs, and preferring instead to be just called “Queen of the Night.”

“Nung nag-iisip kami ng title (for the concert), parang sobra naman yung queen, kasi ayoko masagasaan yung mga friends ko na divas, queens in their own right, lagyan naman po natin ng something na parang di naman magiging mayabang ang tunog, kaya yun we’ve come up with ‘Queen of the Night: Jona,’ at yung queen for a night puwede ko ma-claim yun,” she said.

The “Queen of the Night: Jona” concert tickets are available at all Ticketnet outlets and online through ticketnet.com.ph. The concert is produced by Star Events, Big Eyes Events and Creative Media Entertainment.  Clarizel Abanilla
