Last week, real-life “book fairy” Emma Watson visited the busy London Tube and hid nearly 100 giveaway copies of Maya Angelou’s “Mom & Me & Mom.”

And now, just a day after the US elections, the “Beauty and the Beast” actress brought serenity and reconciliation to several commuters, burying several copies of the novel, which is her November pick for her online book club “Our Shared Shelf,” at selected locations in the New York City Subway on Thursday.

While she was in London, she partnered with Books on the Underground, a local charity group. For her New York train-tripping, Watson, 26, collaborated with Books on the Subway, a free book exchange organization.

She also expressed her utmost desire to promulgate her women empowerment initiatives as United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador. “… I am going to fight harder for all the things I believe in,” she tweeted.

In her blog post on Our Shared Shelf’s page on Oct. 17, Watson detailed the fascinating reason why she handpicked the autobiography as this month’s book-to-read. “The story is about the special connection between mother and child; both women found a way to move on and form a profound and enduring bond of love and support,” she wrote.

Her activities even gained the support of J.K. Rowling, author of “Harry Potter,” in whose film adaptation Watson portrayed the character of Hermione Granger.

Watson is set to star as inventor Belle in the “Beauty and the Beast” live-action remake, which will screen starting March 2017.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
