NEW YORK—Woodstock legend Joan Baez sang Friday for the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York, the latest in a series of music stars to serenade the youthful demonstrators.
Baez, 70, sang before some 300 to 500 people in Foley Square, near the protest camp that sprang up in September and inspired similar live-in demonstrations around the country.
Her performance came three days after rock veterans David Crosby and Graham Nash, from the group Crosby, Stills and Nash, visited the square.
Although many of the anti-capitalist protesters were not born before Baez’s heyday in the 1960s, she led a sing-along to demonstrators gathered in front of a courthouse.
