At the Tokyo fest, Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep discusses the food quirks she shares with her screen character in “Florence Foster Jenkins.” “I think all these idiosyncrasies of Florence were true. She didn’t cook. In fact, there was no kitchen in her apartment. They had to send out. And she only ate sandwiches and potato salad. She was a true eccentric. I have a craving for really good sushi, but you can only get it here, so I have to come to Japan. We were in Kyoto, and we went to a restaurant with so many kinds of tofu. At home, we only have one kind of tofu. I’ve never seen this type of restaurant—and it was fantastic!” —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
