The “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” fever has not subsided, even in its original home in Japan.
Ryuk, the character in the famed Japanese anime series “Death Note,” joined the funky mania and danced to the uplifting beat of Piko-Taro’s “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” in a YouTube clip uploaded on Tuesday.
Simply, the computer-generated Shinigami, or death spirit, lip-synced the track and mimicked Piko-Taro, enacted by DJ-songwriter Daimaou Kosaka, as he festively moved and demonstrated how to mix a pen, pineapple and apple.
As the music video ends, Ryuk uses his pen-pineapple-apple-pen to write in his Death Note notebook. The humorous video has amassed 410,000 views as of Wednesday afternoon.
Rocket News reported that “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” has reached international stardom as the 45-second ditty pitched US Billboard Hot 100 charts and the Guinness World Record.
