“Doraemon” is possibly one of the most well-known and well-loved anime series in the world. It is a sad day then when a member of the cast that voiced a character from the popular series passes away.

Kaneta Kimotsuki, who passed away at age 80 on Monday, was the voice of the neighborhood bully Takeshi “Gian” Gouda, better known to Filipino fans as “Damulag” (“big kid”) in the original 1973 Doraemon TV anime. He then switched roles to Suneo for the 1979 version of the show.

Apart from “Doraemon,” Kimotsuki also lent his voice to a number of series including “Galaxy Express 999 (Conductor),” “1979 Cyborg 009 (Great Briten/007)” and “Magical Angel Creamy Mami (Nega).” He also did work as the Japanese voice of Jiminy Cricket for the “Kingdom Hearts” game franchise.  Alfred Bayle
