Although Anne Hathaway looked dazzling during her Best Supporting Actress win at the 2013 Academy Awards night, she was deeply concealing her misery with “Les Misérables.”
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, the “Colossal” star admitted that she pretended to be happy when she won her Oscar award for her role as Fantine in the film adaptation of Victor Hugo’s critically acclaimed book.
“I felt very uncomfortable. I kind of lost my mind doing that movie and it hadn’t come back yet,” she said. It came to the point where she had to shed off 11 kilos for the film.
“Then I had to stand up in front of people and feel something I don’t feel which is uncomplicated happiness. It’s an obvious thing, you win an Oscar and you’re supposed to be happy. I didn’t feel that way,” she explained to the media outlet.
Moreover, Hathaway, 33, felt dissatisfied with the lavish garb she wore during the event, a pink Prada gown, which reported cost an arm and a leg.”I felt wrong that I was standing there in a gown that cost more than some people are going to see in their lifetime,” the Hollywood star added.
Despite the criticisms she faced, Hathaway grasped a valuable life lesson from that incident. “But what you learn from it is that you only feel like you can die from embarrassment, you don’t actually die,” she concluded.
Hathaway, who welcomed her son with hubby Adam Shulman this year, recently starred in 2016 sci-fi thriller, “Colossal,” and joined the all-girl cast of “Ocean’s 8” in August. Gianna Francesca Catolico
