Actress Denise Laurel, PBA player fiancé Sol Mercado break up

Actress-host Denise Laurel on Thursday announced that she and her fiancé, PBA player Sol Mercado, decided to end their relationship, months after calling off their planned wedding this year.

Laurel, who watched Mercado’s game in the PBA finals Wednesday night, took to Instagram to share news of their breakup.

“I just want to ask all of you for prayers right now and support… From now on Sol and I are just friends. I am very happy for him and I have learned so much from him! But please don’t tag me first on anything that has to do with him. We both tried our best,” Laurel wrote.

But Laurel was quick to clarify that Mercado did not cheat on her.

“And also please respect Sol he did not cheat on me, he didn’t do anything wrong. We’ve both been trying for a while now. He’s amazing and brought so much into my life. God has something planned for us both,” she said.

“People are bothering Sol now and he really didn’t do anything at all. It’s sad but God has different paths for us. We have been friends trying for a while,” Laurel added.

Laurel and Mercado got engaged in 2013. She has a son from a previous relationship.

In June, Laurel decided to postpone their planned wedding, saying she “got overwhelmed with putting our families’ schedule together.” YG/JE
