Phil Mangubat, media observer, shares: “As others have pointed out, ABS-CBN’s ‘Budoy’ benefits from the competent acting of Janice de Belen. Barbara Perez, ZsaZsa Padilla, Tirso Cruz III and Dante Rivero also do well, but it is Janice who carries the show. Her performance reminds viewers of the girl we first loved in ‘Flordeluna.’ Aside from her restrained acting, Janice now has better voice control, which further enhances her delivery of dialogue.
“Now that her kids are all grown up, Janice has to get back into shape so she can vie again for the major roles she still deserves to get.”

Ernz Logica, musician: “ABS-CBN’s Chiara Zambrano delivers the news in Filipino clearly. On the other hand, other reporters’ limited knowledge of Filipino compromises the quality of their reporting.”
Afternoon soap
Lester Ligutom, student: “Something isn’t right with the way Mike Tan acts on GMA 7’s ‘Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Langit.’ He reminds me of Aljur Abrenica in the failed reincarnation of ‘Machete’—one is just as wooden as the other! And, why does he deliver his lines in a staccato manner? Perhaps, he should consider taking an acting workshop.”
Marina Calderon, teacher: “After almost a year on TV5’s ‘Wil Time Bigtime,’ Shalani Soledad seems to be content with her laid-back approach as a game-show host.
“With not much to do other than introduce the contestants in the balloon-bursting contest, Shalani looks like she’s just one of the show’s rah-rah girls, not the much-improved cohost we hoped she’d be by now. During the show’s anniversary, she proved that she can dance—so, maybe she should do so more often.”
