Though well-loved by many, Alden Richards isn’t immune to bashers, with some even going as far as threatening his life on social media.
Alden said he doesn’t want to read too much into such messages involving death threats, but had sought the help of GMA Artist Center and the National Bureau of Investigation just the same.
“Social media is full of people like that. In cyberspace, it’s easy to issue statements or threaten others,” he pointed out at a recent press conference shortly after he renewed his contract with GMA 7. “It’s done by people who don’t have better things to do. Still, we take caution,” the 24-year-old celebrity added.
Alden said he couldn’t be more excited about inking a new contract with GMA 7, his mother network for the past five years. “This is proof that loyalty pays off,” he said. “I can’t imagine myself transferring to another network.”
While “Eat Bulaga!’s” wildly popular kalyeserye segment featuring the love team of Alden and Main “Yaya Dub” Mendoza (or AlDub) has already concluded, the actor’s schedule remains hectic.
Alden has launched a book and is expected to come out with a new album—a followup to “Wish I May,” his eight-time platinum sophomore record. He is also set to do a television series with Maine next year.
With all these on his plate, Alden’s personal life is bound to be affected. He sleeps less. He doesn’t get to spend as much time with his family as he’d like. But the opportunities he receives in exchange for such sacrifices makes everything worth it.
Alden mused, “I try to see the good in all the things I do.”
